I came across Flying Toasters – The DeadPixel Tales while looking at the new releases on Smashwords and the title got my attention right away, as it will for anyone who is familiar with the screensaver of the same name. Today I got online after being off for two days and as I was checking headlines at NPR I saw Book News: It’s The End Of The Story For Sony’s E-Bookstore. That got my attention since my ebooks are available in Sony’s Reader Store thanks to their distribution deal with Smashwords, the company that distributes my ebooks. I went to Smashwords’ Site Updates page and saw the news there, along with a post on their blog that details that NPR didn’t provide. more “Sony leaves the ebook business”
I realized the other day that the page I created for my ebook Somewhere… and More doesn’t have the links to the week or previews I posted before the book was published. That’s now corrected so if you’re thinking of getting it you can easily find six excerpts from the book to help you decide that you want to get it. more “A small change to the page for “Somewhere… and More””
Today as I was checking the sales and downloads of my ebooks I remembered that I needed to see if my ebooks are available on Flipkart yet. Back in August Smashwords announced an agreement for them to distribute their authors’ ebooks on Flipkart, India’s largest online bookstore. Since Smashwords is my distributor my ebooks would be making their way to Flipkart as well. more “Hello to India! My ebooks are now available on Flipkart!”
Due to a recent price increase in the paperback edition of He’s With the Band, along with the fact that I am unable to make any updates in that edition of the book, I have removed it from sale from Amazon and their CreateSpace division. The minimum price Amazon allowed me to charge for the paperback was high enough at $4.59, simply because the book is so short, but when I noticed that the price had risen almost a dollar with no explanation as to why the minimum price was increased I felt I had no choice but to remove it from print completely.
I’m sorry about any inconvenience this causes.
Smashwords, the company that puts my ebooks into so many major retailers, threw the switch on a major redesign of their website. The new site is bright and shiny, and it’s even easier to see the information on the books you’re looking at. The screenshot on the right, from Smashword’s announcement of the redesign on their blog, shows a bit of how much cleaner the site looks, and when you go to an ebook’s page you can see just how much cleaner it looks, as you can see in this screenshot of the page for my ebook He’s With the Band. more “Smashwords gets a major redesign”

So many people have ebook readers and love them, and for those that do some of the best gifts you can give them are more ebooks. Except not only do you have to decide which ebooks to give them, but you also have to make sure you give it to them in the right format for their device. If you’re an iPad user and the person you’re shopping for is a Kindle or Nook user any ebooks from iBooks could be useless to them, and vice versa. But Smashwords has just the thing for you.

I realized this morning that I created a new page for the re-titled No Budget, No Pay but I forgot to change the image and link on the right hand side of the site. In the process of updating that I realized that I had rearranged how the pages for my books appear on the site but I didn’t update the sidebar links. It’s all fixed now, and I apologize for any problems my oversight caused.
As many of you know, I distribute my ebooks via Smashwords, a company that was created for the sole purpose of helping independent ebook authors get their ebooks into ebookstores so that readers can find their ebooks. As you can see from the screenshot below if you have your ebooks in the Smashwords Premium Catalog they can put your ebooks in most, if not all, the major stores where readers will look for ebooks, including libraries. more “Kobo makes it a sweep with all of the major ebookstores carrying all of my ebooks”
